Change

Flowers, the weather, jobs, time- it all evolves, changing constantly. Just like everything else in the world, us humans change to. Babies grow. Our physical appearance and voices change during puberty. Our minds change when making decisions or forming opinions or about absolutely anything in life on a day to day basis. Change is not just a part of life, it is the very essence of life.

Sometimes change is inevitable; like landing a new job where you have to move to a new state or meet new people. Or going to a new school where you don't know anyone. Or like having to create a new routine after the absence of a person. Change may be forced, you may have to adjust and adapt to your new way of life and do things differently than you had done them before. Change may be uncontrollable. But change can also be controlled. Change can be made.

Change can be hoped for, or attempted at on New Years or on the start of a new school year. You may set goals to do better at your job or sport or take on a new workout regime or a new passion project. You may also change by focusing on yourself, learning new things, and growing as a person. And that is okay.

People are not meant to stay stagnant. We need to evolve as individuals, it's just our nature. So why do we coincide change with negativity if it's something that's just, natural? Because we are insecure. We are afraid of losing someone, losing ourselves, losing the comfort of our everyday lives. We are scared of change because we're scared of the unknown. But let me tell you something, if you are unhappy, confused, lonely, bored, settling, or not satisfied with the way your life is going, the only way to look is forward. You cannot find happiness in the same place you lost it. Maybe it's just me, but I find the best way to pull out of a rut is through change. And not just minor changes, but big leaps. I jump. I don't know if thats necessarily the best way to do change, but doing the thing that scares me the most gives me the chance to overcome it. And that makes me hopeful. Change gives me hope.

So don't be scared of change. Don't associate change with negative thoughts. Trust change. Have faith in it. Take advantage of the opportunities it brings. Let it take you to where you need to be. Be excited about it. We only live one life, don't spend it stagnant.
